Today I am grateful I’m back!!!!! A true saint, with canonization to follow, came over yesterday and fixed my hard drive and hooked me up with the external thingy. Yes, my computer needed Viagra. I haven’t spent this much time talking about a hard drive in years and when I did it certainly didn’t save memory. It had an inexhaustible memory all its own. Wait, I think I’m off track. Aren’t you glad I’m back?
It wasn’t that I couldn’t use my computer for very short times because of that clogged like a boys-dorm-toilet-hard-drive, it was that I was scared to do any substantial writing at all because I kept getting messages that whatever I wanted to save wasn’t saving. When you are about a third of the way into writing a memoir, that’s not a pop up you want to see. You want to pop-it! Bigglie!
I learned a lot during this time of silence and reflection. It sucks. I don’t have to be connected all the time and really like the occasional disconnect, on my terms, not on the stupid computers hard-drive terms. Yeah, that’s pretty much all I learned, so I guess I didn’t learn a lot, I just learned that one thing very well. Every day.
The really cool thing about being one of those annoying creative types is that just because the elements combine to keep you from putting words to keyboard, that doesn’t mean your mind isn’t head-writing all the time. I don’t think I’ll be struggling for words for a while. They will regurgitate out of me like I was in my first trimester of pregnancy, only I’ll be in front of a keyboard and not a bucket. Bet you’re really, really glad I’m back and sharing now, right? Enjoy your breakfast, lunch, dinner, vodka. . .oh wait. I’m off track again.
Maybe Ruby the rental-grand-cat will be back, too. She’s been doing a little head writing herself and is not happy that we’ve been shutting our bedroom door at night to avoid her going ninja all over the bedroom at three a.m.
Today I don’t care about her. I’m just glad I’m back! And during this fix-it process, I learned that laptops have come way down in price! So I’m saving my pennies to get one with a camera inside. Maybe I would even be able to learn how to use it. And then maybe I could do read some of my posts out loud and you could see my bad hair, double chin and rolling eyeballs while I’m emoting. Wouldn’t that be fun. For me anyway and if you’ve being paying attention you know this blog is all about me! Look at that picture and imagine it talking to you. Yikes!
Thank you, Saint. You know who you are! I am very grateful to be back!
