Today I am grateful for lazy summer days. “Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of suuuummer. Those days of soda and pretzels and beer. . .” Yeah, you sing it, I’ll pass. I’ll also pass on the summer part. I guess it just wouldn’t have sounded right to say I was grateful to be lazy, but that sums it up. But it’s only partly true.
This week is the first since recovering from surgery, that I’ve done water aerobics four days. In a row! Because I’ve been staying up much later to watch election coverage for the last two weeks, I confess that this morning, I was sort of hoping for thunderstorms that would mean we couldn’t get in the pool. But no. Rain early and then beautiful sunshine bragging on the newly washed earth. So off I went to exercise. Again. Yeah. Boo-hoo.
It is beautiful outside. But it’s too hot. Maybe I’m not nuts about the heat because I was immersed in it, literally by my own sweat, when we lived in Indonesia. I’m not a fan of peeling soggy clothes off and neither is Himself, like we had to do with his t-shirt after golf yesterday. Yuk.
I love to sit outside and read and that sure doesn’t take a lot of energy, but in this brutal heat, I can’t be out there. No matter how much I drink and not if I plan on being human later. So all of you beach bunnies and sun worshipers enjoy summer. I only want the lazy part.
